Christmas Choir Program

The Joy of Christmas is the them of the Christmas program to be presented by the Chancel Choir and the Bell Choir of First United Methodist Church, Hayesville. Chancel Choir Director, Marcia Powell, and the Bell Choir Director, Roger Hove, have chosen a selection of anthems from around the world celebrating the joy that Christmas brings. Every piece is uplifting and will have you tapping your toes to the rhythms of African and Calypso melodies. Several spirituals and jazz arrangements are included. The Choirs are accompanied by Frank McKinney. Two of Frank’s students from Young Harris College will provide drums and bass guitar. The program will be presented Sunday, December 18th at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.

CHRISTMAS SERVICES AT

GOOD SHEPHERD EPISCOPAL CHURCH

In announcing the schedule of Christmas services at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Reverend John Rice, Pastor, extends an invitation to the community to join in celebrating this holy season.

On Sunday, December 18, services will include Lessons and Carols, a beautiful meditative ceremony interweaving music with Bible lessons and readings that tell the story of Christmas. Hymns will be sung and lessons read at the 8:00 a.m. service.  Choir anthems and solos will be sung at the 10:45 a.m. service, in addition to hymns and lessons. Both worship services will celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

On December 24th, Christmas Eve, members of Good Shepherd will join Christian churches around the world in celebrating the birth of the Baby Jesus. A 5:00 p.m. service will include a Children’s Christmas Pageant and Family Holy Eucharist. The 10:00 p.m. Festive Holy Eucharist Service will include Christmas hymns and anthems, following which the church will be bathed in candlelight in celebration of this holiest of holy nights, when our Savior was born.

Reverend Rice and the church family at Good Shepherd extend a warm welcome to the community to join in these special Christmas services.  The church is located a mile east of the traffic light at Kerr’s Pharmacy on Hwy. 64 in Hayesville.
