TAKING THE NAME OF JESUS
TO THE WORLD IN AMAZING WAYS
Thanks to the prayers and support of you our friends since Lena and I have been married we have taken the name of Jesus to the world in some amazing ways. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! God brought Lena and I together she is such a blessing to our ministry. This year we conducted church services on a Cruise ship. And to better equip ourselves for the ministry we attended 10 weeks of intense training at Christian Retreat Institute of Ministry in Bradenton Florida. Charles has been licensed and Ordained in the Ministry since 1959. But this year he was ordained by Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship; and Lena was licensed.
On May 22 we left for Alaska with our motor home and returned October 2, 2010, and 14000 miles later. . What an amazing trip it was and how the Lord used us to take the name of Jesus in amazing ways. Charles preached and we cooked pancakes for churches and at the Salvation Army Shelter in Whitehorse, Canada. And we gave out tracts and did personal evangelism. We parked the motor home at a busy intersection and set up tables to give out materials that visitor centers gave us along with tracts and offered free juice. We are so thankful for all the wonderful people we met, and who helped us. Which we do not have the space or time to mention here.
Our first stop was Haines, Alaska after 12 days and 4200 miles. We visited with Wayne & Jane Cowart Pastors of Haines Christian Center. They are from Murphy, NC, then after 10 days of resting we stopped at Northway an Indian village. We visited with Tom and Jean Teasdale Pastors of Northway Church of God Then we stopped in Delta Junction the end of the Alaska Highway. There we visited with Glen Cotton Pastor of Clearwater Baptist Church and his family. They are from Murphy, NC.
And our next stop was Fairbanks. Charles preached at North Pole Church of God. And the Lord gave Charles a wonderful opportunity to share his Fourth of July message at North Pole Speed Way, and Fairbanks Speed way. Here is part of his message, “As we celebrate the birth of our great nation, may we have a new birth of freedom; not a freedom from God, which always leads to license of ultimate slavery, but rather a freedom built upon God and His commandments. Apart from which any nation will eventually perish”.
We left Fairbanks and went to Denali National Park. We rode a shuttle bus 92 miles in to the park and saw wildlife and a rare clear view of Mt. McKinney. From there we went to Homer and Homer Spit. Then we went to Seward and took a boat ride to Kenai Fjords Glacier, and hiked to Exit Glacier.
Next we went back to Homer and again parked our motor home on the Homer Spit beach. Then we took the Alaska state ferry to visit some of the Aleutian Islands and visted with some of the people. Some of the Islands we visited were Chignik, Cold Bay, Dutch Harbor, False Pass, King Cove, Sand Point.
We also visited Kodaki Island. This was a week long trip and was a wonderful trip.
On our way from Alaska we went to Valdez and saw the salmon spawning and the bears eating the fish. At Valdez we took a boat ride to the Columbia Glacier. And we visited Hyder, Alaska and Salmon Glacier British Columbia. Then when we got home we went to Marion, NC and cooked pancakes for Friendship House a women’s shelter in Marion North Carolina, and later went to the Hope House women’s shelter near Cleveland, Tennessee.
There are so much more to report to you but space and time will not permit it. If you would like to hear more you can call us. We have hundreds of pictures and are working on a presentation of our trip. Please pray for us as we pray for you. We do not boast of ourselves, we give the Lord all the glory and honor
May you and yours have a Merry Christmas a Happy and prosperous New Year!!
