I’m going to vote for Dan Eichenbaum because of our 30+-year relationship.  It began when I was selling surgical instruments in southeast Florida and first met the young ophthalmologist, Dr. Eichenbaum.  I quickly learned that he was a very loyal customer as long as you were willing to give him 100% of your attention.  It was always easy to do because he gave the same thing back.

In 1988 we found ourselves face to face in, of all places, Murphy, NC.  Unbeknownst to each other we were both moving our families to the same town.  We have remained very good friends.  I’ve done some work for Dan as an excavator and he has been our family’s eye doctor.

On a recent visit to his office, during the examination I asked him if he was considering retiring, like I’ve done.  It tickled me when his eyes lit up and he said he has never enjoyed being an ophthalmologist more, and had absolutely no intention of retiring.  Then he had to tell me all about this new piece of diagnostic equipment that he had just purchased and how it was going to improve his ability to diagnose.

Therefore I find Dr. Dan to be similar to our founding fathers inasmuch as he is a “reluctant servant”.  I think Dr. Dan would rather be an ophthalmologist than a congressman, but he’s willing to do what’s right for our country in this time of extreme need.  So he has my support and my vote.
