Cherokee County Schools Shows Bus Driver Appreciation through Love the Bus Campaign
Local school bus drivers were recently honored with various celebrations and activities held at several different schools during the month of February. “We think it is important to demonstrate how much we value and appreciate our drivers,” stated Teresa Hayes, Cherokee County Transportation Information Coordinator. This year Cherokee County School students, parents, teachers and administrators took part in the third annual National Love the Bus campaign. “Each school day, these individuals are responsible for transporting 2129 students which represents 64% of the total student population,” continued Hayes. Murphy area driver, Trish Clayton recently told News Center 9 reporter John Pless, “We are responsible for transporting the most precious cargo….” “Clayton’s description of her ‘cargo’ is definitely indicative of the caring, dedicated individuals we have piloting our buses,”stated CCS Public Relations Director Jeana Hardin. “They deserve recognition for the job they do each day- after all, ensuring that students travel safely to and from school is the most critical part of every day.”
