Stephen Sudderth

Stephen Sudderth, age 62 of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Murphy Medical Center.

He was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Oliver William and Margie Ruth Lloyd Sudderth. Stephen was a US Marine and US Army veteran.  He was a truck driver for Higdon Construction and attended Fort Hembree Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC. Stephen loved to fish, NASCAR and football.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sudderth; three daughters, Monica Sudderth-Stiles of Murphy, NC, Courtney Sudderth of Murphy, NC and Veronica Pickens of New York, New York; one brother, Billy Sudderth and his wife, Janet of Murphy, NC; one sister, Betty Sudderth of Murphy, NC and seven grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Javen Harper will officiate. Burial will be in the Fort Hembree Cemetery in Hayesville, NC with Military Graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73, Hayesville American Legion Post 532 and Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol). Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sudderth, Jermel Sudderth, Johnathan Moreland, Reggie Cox, Kevin Nicely and Zeke Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Isaac Nicely and Richard (Turbo) Pickens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Stephen Sudderth to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801.
