The Cherokee County 9-12 project will be sponsoring a public forum for all of the current candidates for the District 11 House of Representatives seat. The forum will be held at the Mountain Vista Inn from 7:00 to 9:00 Monday night February1st. Ed Cloud from WCVP radio station will act as moderator. We currently have commitments from 4 of the 7 candidates, and hope that all the candidates including Heath Shuler and the public will attend.

At present it appears the weather is improving and we are still planning on having the event. If the weather worsens we are planning on using our hotline number 837-0055 to give updates.

The 912 Project is working to provide information about our political process. We are a citizen’s group that believes in traditional American values based on our US Constitution as written by our Founding Fathers.

We believe that big government is not the answer for all our problems. The farther the decision making bureaucrats are from the citizens the less responsive they are to local needs and issues. As the center of power shifts more and more to a larger Federal government we see elected officials that are less and less responsive to the citizens that elected them.

These, once elected officials, are now politicians and answer only to the things that keep them in power, special interest groups (money & influence) and their respective political parties.

By putting on forums such as these, we hope to be able to better screen political candidates through public scrutiny instead of their merely being selected by the local or state party officials.

We ask that you join and/or support our 912 Project efforts to restore our system of government to the traditional values and system of government that has make this country the greatest in world.
