THOMAS “TOM” ELROD

Thomas “Tom” Elrod, 67, of Murphy died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 in a Fannin County, GA hospital.  He was a native of Cherokee County. He was an iron worker and was a member of the Local No. 387. Tom was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of Oma Ledford Elrod of Murphy and the late Thomas David Elrod. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dan and Kenneth Elrod; and a sister, Joy Brown.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sisters, Betty Elrod and Wanda Kephart both of Murphy; and two brothers, Charles Elrod of Murphy and Paul Elrod of Holly Springs, GA.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Thursday, Jan. 14 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Eddie Tretham and Doug Elrod officiating. Interment was in Elrod Cemetery.  Nephews served as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
