This was self defense plain and simple. The land owner had every right to protect his family and his LAND.

There seems to be a blatant disregard for private property in this part if NC. Hunters trespassing with their dogs and four wheelers on joy rides are commons occurrences. How stupid must someone be to challenge a homeowner’s right to the security of private property, and be willing to give up his life because the violator didn’t think the laws applied to him. His “friends” who burned the house later are even more mindless, because they have now ruined their lives to “take revenge” on an innocent person. Cherokee county has some of the nicest people I know, but it also has some of the most dim witted.
As Forrest Gump said, “Stupid is as stupid does”.
