Randy Barnett appointed to School Board of Directors
Mr. Randy Barnett, Chairman of the Cherokee County Board of Education has been officially appointed to the North Carolina School Boards Association Board of Directors. Mr. Barnett is a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. He attended Peachtree Elementary School, Murphy High School, and Western Carolina University for both Bachelor’s and Administrative degrees. Mr. Barnett began his career as an educator when he returned to teach at Peachtree Elementary School, before serving as principal of Martins Creek School for 20 years. He has served on the Cherokee County School Board since 2006. He is a lifelong member and Deacon at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church and is married to Jamie Lewis Barnett, CTE Coordinator for Cherokee County Schools. While serving as principal of Martins Creek School, Mr. Barnett was chosen as a Wachovia Principal of the year and also served as a member of North Carolina State Superintendent Mike Ward’s Principal Advisory Committee. He continues to serve on the Cherokee County ARC board. Mr. Barnett will be officially recognized Tuesday, November 17th, when the report of the Nominating Committee is presented to the Delegate Assembly at the North Carolina School Board Annual Conference.
