NC Men Busted in Two Separate Incidents

Last week, two men were stopped by Towns County Sheriff’s Office Deputies. Both stops resulted in two men from just across the border, temporarily calling Towns County Detention Center home.

On Wednesday, Deputy Mark Marshall conducted a routine traffic stop on Hwy 76W. During the stop, K-9 Deputy Marshall witnessed the driver attempting to hide an object in the back of the truck. The deputy located the item and discovered a substance consistent with methamphetamine. Several grams of the suspected drug was confiscated, along with drug paraphernalia.

Jeffery James Cannon (40) of Hayesville, NC was charged with several offenses including; Violation of Georgia Controlled Substance Act- VGCSA (Possession of Methamphetamine, Poss. with Intent to Distribute), Obstruction of Officer and a citation was issued for equipment violation from the initial stop.

The following day, Marshall conducted another traffic stop, on Hwy. 17N, that resulted in the arrests of two Murphy, NC men. Clinton Luther Henderson (30) and Jeremy Lee Clifton (29). A search of the vehicle occupied by the two suspects resulted in a discovery of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine along with various pills and a small amount of marijuana. Lt. Donaldson and Lt. Davis arrived on the scene to aid in the search. The two men’s charges included; VGCSA (Possession of Meth, Possession of Meth with Intent to Distribute, and other drug related charges). The driver was also cited for the initial traffic violation.
